The Warm Autumn is the warmest color type within the dark and muted Autumn palette. Its main characteristic is ‘Warm,’ with the secondary characteristics being ‘Muted’ and ‘Dark.’

Sometimes determining your color type isn’t straightforward because you may not possess all the “typical characteristics.” That’s perfectly normal. If you are having problems, try my online course “DIY Seasonal Color Analysis“.

    Characteristics of the Warm Autumn:

If you need help determining your characteristics, click here.

The Warm Autumn leans slightly towards Spring. Its main criterion is the warm undertone, with no cool undertones present anywhere. There are usually moderate contrasts between eyes, hair, and skin, and the overall impression is rather soft.

Skin: bronze, golden beige, warm ivory, and warm beige, with a noticeable warm undertone

Hair: medium to dark golden brown, medium hazel brown, rich and warm red, amber, brown-red, always with a distinctly warm undertone

Eyes: medium brown (sometimes light), warm dark green and dark Hazel Eyes, amber, warm chocolate brown; gray eyes tend towards Spring

Colors to avoid for Warm Autumn:

Warm Autumn types should avoid colors that are cool. They will never be able to borrow colors from the Summer and Winter palettes. Even though the Summer types are muted, the colors would not only be too light but also too cool. The same applies to the Winter palette. While these colors are dark, they are also too clear in addition to being cool. The very clear and bright colors of the Clear and Light Springs also usually do not work. Although these palettes are warm to varying degrees, both are too clear, with brightness as their main or secondary characteristic

Color types from which Warm Autumn might borrow:

Warm Autumn types can borrow from Soft and Deep Autumn, as long as the colors are warm enough and not too dark and muted. Colors can also be borrowed from the Warm Spring palette, as long as they are not too light and vibrant.

    Warm Autumn Make up

The optimal Warm Autumn makeup includes warm, slightly muted, and medium-dark colors. These should be rich in color depth but not bright. Avoid colors with cool pink or bluish undertones, as they are too cool for you and will make you look very pale. Strong gloss or shine effects unfortunately do not suit your soft transitions.

*In this post, you’ll also find product suggestions that suit your color type. Please note that there can be no guarantee that all the suggested products will universally flatter you. Often, certain features may be a little “atypical” – for example, you may be clearer or lighter than average. So, choose your favorite products from my suggestions, taking your uniqueness into account. If you’re unsure, it’s better to order sample sizes first or take my online course to find out if you’re atypical.

    Warm Autumn Make up Colors

    Foundation & Concealer

Choose foundation and concealer according to your skin tone. Warm Autumn types usually have a warm skin tone with golden or yellow undertones. Matte or satin finishing foundations with yellow undertones usually work well. Foundations based on pink and blue tones may not work as they are too cool for you.

    Finishing Powder

Choose a finishing powder that matches the tone of your foundation. If your favorite brand does not have warm tones, choose a translucent powder.

    Bronzer, Contouring & Highlighter

Autumn types are made for bronzer. Bronzer should highlight the warmth in the skin. Since the Warm Autumn type has plenty of warmth, you can use bronzer tailored to your skin tone without worry. However, since Warm Autumn is muted, the bronzer should not shimmer too much. The same applies to contouring products. Instead of a specific contouring product, you can also use a powder foundation that is slightly darker than your normal one but has the same undertones. Use warmer, matte beige tones as highlighters if you want to highlight specific areas.

    Eyeshadows

Use warm, well-pigmented eyeshadows that complement your appearance. Cool and vibrant colors can make you look quickly painted or sick. For accents, you can use the colors from the Warm Autumn color pass; for base colors, use the colors from the Neutral Colors for Warm Autumn color pass. Avoid glittering and shimmering colors and prefer matte tones. These harmonize better with your soft appearance. You can also use a metallic shimmering highlighter if you blend or fade it with a matte tone-on-tone eyeshadow.

    Mascara

Strictly speaking, I should recommend not using black mascara here, as it highlights the lashes very strongly. In general, this is always the purpose of mascara, so feel free to use black if you feel comfortable with it. Your best color would be a warm brown-black. Mascara in this color is rare to find, though. Avoid blue-black mascara and opt for deep black instead.

    Eyeliner & Kohl

Eyeliner or kohl that harmonizes with your eye color is always the best choice. You can find suitable warm colors on the makeup card for Warm Autumn. Avoid light, highly luminous, or cool colors. Black is unfortunately too extreme for you. Instead, choose a warm, dark brown or olive. Such colors are rarely available in pencil form. Instead, use powder (eyeshadow) that you can apply with an eyeliner brush.

    Blush

The choice of your blush depends on how dark you are. If you are a lighter Warm Autumn, opt for the lighter shades. If you are a Warm Autumn with darker skin, choose the darker tones. Avoid cool pink tones, blue-based colors, or blush with glitter.

    Lipstick

Orange and red tones suit you best. These can also have a slight golden shimmer. Since you belong to a muted season, lighter colors also work for you. You can wear ‘Nude Lips’ for your daytime makeup as long as the nude tone is warm.

    Daytime Makeup

As mentioned with the lipstick, you can wear the ‘Natural Makeup Look.’ As long as you use warm colors, it works great. Other color types would look sunburned with the Warm Autumn colors, but they will harmoniously blend into your natural color palette.

    Evening Makeup

Warm smokey eyes and warm, deep red tones for the lips create a dramatic look for the Warm Autumn type. Bronzer is perfect. Add a few accents with slightly metallic eyeshadows or lipstick. You can also simply follow the daytime makeup and emphasize the eyes a little more and choose a darker lipstick.

You can learn how to put together clothing, accessories, and jewelry suitable for your color type below.

    Warm Autumn Clothing and Accessories

The main features of the Warm Autumn type are its warm overall impression and low contrasts. Color selection and combination of Warm Autumn clothing and accessories should reflect and complement these main features so that the Warm Autumn type looks vibrant.

This works very well with the combination of one of your neutral colors and an accent color from your Warm Autumn Digital Color Palette. If you choose a light neutral color, combine it with a slightly darker accent color, and vice versa. You can also opt for colors that are ajoining on the color wheel (analogous colors) or monochrome color combinations (tone-on-tone). Choose tones that differ in brightness so that you don’t look too pale.

    Soft Autumn Clothing Color Combinations

Color Combinations Warm Autumn Should Avoid

All color combinations that have high contrasts, such as complementary colors (opposite on the color wheel), triadic, tetradic, or square color systems, are not suitable. The latter consists of three or four colors evenly distributed on the color circle. You should also avoid combinations of exclusively light colors from your color passes. As you belong to the darker Autumn, the light combinations do not flatter you.

Pure white and black unfortunately do not flatter you either. Choose dark chocolate brown or very dark olive green and warm off-white instead.

I have described which colors you should generally avoid further up.

Patterns and Prints for Warm Autumn Clothing

For patterns and prints on Warm Autumn clothing, the same applies as for color combinations. Patterns that consist exclusively of Warm Autumn colors are best. If only a very small part of the pattern consists of a color from a disharmonious color palette, the pattern will surely flatter you as well. Avoid patterns with a predominant proportion of colors from other color palettes.

Patterns with low to medium color contrasts suit you, but too large contrasts will make you fade into the background. It’s best to choose stylized natural patterns like flowers, leaves, and fruits. Retro patterns also suit you well. Geometric, precisely repeating, or very small patterns are not as ideal. Loose arranged, larger elements are better.

You can find examples of patterns and prints in your Digital Color Palette.

    Appropriate Clothing

You’re best off choosing appropriate clothing with the help of a color palette. You always have your Digital Color Palette with you. Simply place it on the garment you’ve chosen and see if the colors harmonize. At first, this may be a bit difficult for you, but over time, you’ll develop a good eye for which colors match and which don’t.

For color combinations and matching patterns, my Digital Color Palette also help you further. If you want regular suggestions for clothing that suits your color type, feel free to follow me on Instagram.

Jewelry for the Warm Autumn Type

Warm metals like brass, copper, gold, and rose gold suit Warm Autumn types.

Since your color type belongs to the muted Autumn types, metals that do not shine so much suit you better. It doesn’t have to be matte, but antique or hammered fits perfectly.

Your gemstone is amber. It suits you in all variations and shades. Stones in warm green tones are also very suitable, especially if you have green eyes.
